Memorial service for Mbongeni Sikhakhane, the African Farmers Association of South Africa chairperson who was gunned down on his farm at Sweetwaters in Pietermaritzburg last Friday.
A group of five armed men entered Skhakhanes's home demanding money and his firearm before shooting him and fleeing the scene.
Members of his family who were on the farm at the time escaped unhurt.
Members of the farmers' association say the attack was likely related to the increase in stock-theft cases which they claim is out of control in the province.
