The case against five people accused of gunning down nine patrons at the KwaNoxolo tavern in Bekkersdal on Gauteng's West Rand resumes.

The case was previously postponed to allow the accused to apply for legal aid.

The accused face multiple charges, including nine counts of murder, attempted murder, possession of unlicenced firearms and live ammunition, as well as being undocumented foreign nationals.

One of the five accused is reported to have a previous conviction for attempted murder.
