The UN has honored China's peacekeeping force in South Sudan for its contribution to regional stability. The force received a team award, while 35 soldiers received individual honors. Granted by the commander in chief of the UN peacekeeping forces in South Sudan, the awards are the world body's highest honor for international peacekeepers in the region. The Chinese venerated force belongs to the fifth batch of infantry battalion for peacekeeping. Since deployment in November 2018, the force has mainly been in charge of patrolling the UN camp and a refugee camp.
