The Mpumalanga Department of Health has expressed concern over the high number of teenage pregnancies in the province. Over 9 700 teenagers gave birth in the province last year (2025). Health MEC, Sasekani Manzini released the figure during her visit to Shongwe Hospital in Schoemansdal, to welcome New Year's babies. So far, about 50 babies were born in the province today.
