The role of religion in a constitutional democracy is once again in focus following ongoing discussions around proposed governance frameworks for religious faith groups. The proposals, linked to the work of the Cultural Religious and Lingistic Rights Commission, are intended to encourage accountability and ethical leadership within faith communities, particularly in response to past concerns about abuse and misconduct in some religious spaces.

Professor Simangaliso Kumalo, Professor of Public Theology and History at the School of Arts, University of KwaZulu-Natal,and Director of the Centre for Constructive Theology shares insights.
