Johannesburg Metro Police's Chief of Police say they are seeing very high numbers of accidents on the roads and more people been killed. This follows the arrests of 227 motorists being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol over the past long weekend. JMPD's spokesperson Xolani Fihla says they'll continue with their festive season safety campaign and operations and officers will remain deployed 24-hours, 7-days a week across major routes and hotspots to ensure compliance with the law.
