The funeral service of five of the eight people who were killed in a crash on the N3 between Van Reenen's Pass and Montrose on Thursday is underway in Virginia in the Free State.

Four women were among the eight deceased when the minibus taxi they were travelling in crashed into the back of a truck.

The Free State Department of Education spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, says the four women were early childhood development practitioners working at one of the early learning centres in Virginia.

For more on this, let's now cross to our reporter Aphumelele Mdlalane, who is live for us in Virginia.
