Tens of thousands of people, most in large groups of family members, are celebrating the start of a new year. Making time for each other, this tradition goes back many generations, with people travelling long distances, sometimes to see family members for the first time in a year. At Melkbosstrand, on the border between Cape Town and the West Coast, a peaceful, joyfull day is underway.
