The City of Ekurhuleni has suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department's Deputy Chief of Police, Julius Mkhwanazi.
This follows the recommendations of an internal audit investigation into allegations of misconduct.
Mkhwanazi's name has been central to the testimony heard by the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry from the EMPD officers, including Retired Ekurhuleni Metro Police Deputy Chief Revo Spies, who concluded his evidence yesterday after three days of explosive testimony.
To make sense of the developments, we are joined by Professor Kholofelo Rakubu a Criminologist from Tshwane University of Technology.
