The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has been battling a large number of veld fires over the past month as hot, dry and windy conditions continue to fuel outbreaks across the region. Emergency services have been stretched, with the fire department confirming that more than 30 fire-related calls were attended to yesterday alone. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, as teams work around the clock to contain fires and protect lives, property and the environment.
