Death is again stalking the summer initiation season in the Eastern Cape. Nine have already died while 13 young men have been rescued from illegal initiation schools across the province. The summer initiation is now only in its second week. A Provincial Joint Operations Centre has been activated to monitor the Xhosa custom and ensure a safe rite of passage for the initiates.
