The Bakgatla Ba Mosetlha tribal community has called on the North West provincial government to intervene and support the Diturupa Cultural festival.

The event takes place annually on Boxing day in Makapanstad, North West.

Diturupa is a borrowed English term meaning Troops.

This event celebrates the bravery and commitment of African soldiers who fought alongside allied European forces during World War 2.

It brings together various youth groups clad in KILTS and army replica uniforms where they dance and celebrate in honour of the African World War 2 veterans.
