Some church leaders in Limpopo have strongly condemned the rape and abuse of young girls and women who are members of their churches.

This is the country that recently observed 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

Over the last few years, several clergymen have been accused and sentenced for the rape of mostly underage girls in the province.

In a recent case, a self-proclaimed prophet from Sibasa, near Thohoyandou, is facing a charge of statutory rape of a 14-year-old female member of his church.
