*While The New Year's parties may be over the festivities continue - South africans living in coastal cities have swarmed beaches across the country celbrating the first day of 2026 in style.

*While there was excitement with babies born in the new Year, MEC's visiting hospitals across the country highlighted the ongoing concern over the increase in teenage pregnancies.In Mpumalanga over nine-thousand 700 teenagers gave birth in the province last year (2025). Health MEC for Kwa Zulu Natal Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane has called on traditional authorities and communities to assist in reducing the number of teenage pregnancies.

*Tens of people are feared dead and 100 injured in a fire during a packed New Year's Eve party at a bar at a Swiss ski resort.
Most of the injured are said to be in a serious condition while those who died were burnt beyond recognition.
