* Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, Thabo Makgoba, will lead the popular Christmas Eve midnight mass at St. George's Cathedral tonight. Like some of his predecessors, Makgoba uses this evening's service to address various political and social matters affecting South Africa and the world.

* Western Cape provincial police top brass has conducted an oversight inspection in Bellville, Philippi, Khayelitsha and Mitchell's Plain. The move is part of the festive season safety campaign.

* The taxi industry is experiencing one of its busiest time of the year, as thousands of commuters embark on long-distance journeys home for Christmas. With hours left before Christmas Day, taxi ranks saw an increased number of passengers.

* One suspect has appeared in court for the murder of Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras. Stock was gunned down in the Johannesburg CBD last week. Murder suspect Victor Mthethwa Majola will spend the rest of the festive season behind bars after appearing at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court. The case will resume on 6 January 2026.
