Acting Police Minister, Professor Firoz Cachalia, says consequence management needs to be implemented when it comes to procurement within the South African Police Service. He was responding to the Police Portfolio Committee in Parliament today after MPs were briefed by the office of the Auditor-General on the finances of the SAPS and its entities.

The audit outcomes indicate that for the 2024/25 financial year, more than R600 million was wasted through irregular expenditure within the department.
