School delays leave thousands of learners unplaced

The Gauteng Education Department has blamed municipalities for the delays in building and refurbishing schools in the province. This as 4 858 learners are yet to be placed in schools for the 2026 academic year. Despite the thousands of applications processed, the Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg East districts have the most unplaced learners.
