The Merafong Municipality has urged residents of Kokosi in Fochville - West of Johannesburg to allow entry to the water tankers that they provide. This follows water outages in the area for five months now. Residents have been fetching water from the same drain that collects dirt and sewage. The municipality says talks are underway with Rand Water to settle their bill of over R1 billion to fix this crisis.
