Mary de Haas is convinced that disbanding the KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team was long overdue.
An executive order from the Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu to disband the PKTT surfaced on the 31st of December 2024.
This came two months after De Haas had implored Mchunu to disband the task team, citing allegations of political manipulation, malicious arrests and prosecution of officers who refused to partake in improper investigations.
Eleven months later, De Haas told the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee that the minister took the best decision.
