Al-Shabaab claims Mogadishu bombing as Somalia deals with aftermath

Al-Qaeda affiliated insurgent group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the weekend attack that killed 80 people in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

The group's spokesperson, Ali Dhere, confirmed the news on their radio station, Radio Andalus, multiple media sources reported on Monday, two days after the incident.

The country continues to mop up events after the truck bombing at Mogadishu's busy Ex-Control junction. Authorities have confirmed a death toll of 80 though other sources say 81.
