The latest road safety statistics show that there has been a decrease in the number of fatalities on South African roads this year (2025).

Transport Minister Barbara Creecy revealed this, during the release of the mid-term review of the 2025 festive season road safety campaign.

The total number of fatal crashes since 1 December stands at 431. Creecy and officials from all spheres of government convened in Somerset West in the Western Cape on Friday.

Supported by various law enforcement agencies and road safety partners, to outline government's festive season road safety plan.
