The Cape Town Minstrel Carnival Association held a protest march in the form of a 2de Nuwe Jaar parade in Cape Town.

This after the Western Cape High Court ruled in favour of the organisation against the city of Cape Town.

The court issue relates to the availability of a venue for minstrel competitions held in January after the official street parade.

The court ordered the city to make available an alternative and suitable venue to Vygieskraal in Athlone, which the Association requested.
