The City of Cape Town has filed a notice of appeal, after the Western Cape High Court ruled in favour of the Cape Town Minstrel Carnival Association on Monday night. A judge ruled that the Association must be accommodated by the City with a venue for hosting the traditional Minstrel Competition, held over several weeks between the 1st and 24th of January. The Association approached the court after it was told the Vygieskraal Stadium was unavailable. It deemed the Athlone Stadium as a suitable venue.
