Mkhwanazi also conceded that he facilitated the registration of Vusi "Cat" Matlala's vehicles under the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department despite previously denying any involvement.
Under intense questioning, commissioners pressed Mkhwanazi on the exact process followed when registering vehicles with the EMPD.
It was during this exchange that he ultimately acknowledged his role in enabling the registration of Matlala's cars.
Mkhwanazi, however, maintains that he is innocent of any wrongdoing.
