The Air Traffic and Navigation Services has blamed severe weather conditions for flight disruptions at OR Tambo International Airport. Dozens of local and regional flights were delayed or diverted, leaving many travellers frustrated during the peak travel period on Sunday. Initially, the ATNS said air traffic controllers who were absent due to sickness or other personal circumstances caused the delays.
