Snake handlers in Cape Town say they have their hands full as call-outs increase from startled homeowners who want to get rid of their slithering guests. Intense heat in parts of the province have brought snakes out of hiding, and also hunting for food. Cape cobras, puff adders, boomslang and mole snakes are some of the species commonly found during call-outs. Snake handlers have cautioned against killing the scaled visitors and advise that professionals be called in.
