Many South African girls grow up in poor families, some of whom cannot afford to put food on the table. The African Children's Feeding Scheme in Soweto outside Johannesburg does much more than providing a food program: there is a computer training center, cultural support and homework assistance. But perhaps the center's biggest sevice is instilling hope in the young women as they reach adolescence.
