The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) reports that in the 2025/26 financial year, its Accidents and Incidents Investigations Division (AIID) recorded 43 accidents in the non-scheduled general aviation space, 12 of which were fatal accidents, which resulted in 17 fatalities.

That translates to 10 more fatalities compared to the end of November last year.

The Civil Aviation Authority says it's deeply concerned by this development, saying the latest numbers are similar to a trend last seen as far back as October 2008.
