Traffic has come to a standstill on the R72 between Kenton-On-Sea and Alexandria in the Eastern Cape as a result of a veld fire that broke out earlier today. Firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze. Another veld fire in the area was successfully extinguished yesterday. Veld fires have also occurred in other parts of the Eastern Cape, with the N2 between Gqeberha and Jeffreys Bay also experiencing sparodic fires that forced the closure of the road on Monday and Tuesday.
