The Deputy Minister of Traditional Affairs, Zolile Burns-Ncamashe, is on a three-day urgent oversight visit to initiation schools in the Eastern Cape following the rising death toll of initiates in the province.
So far, seventeen initiates have died in the province since the beginning of the summer initiation season.
The aim of the visit is to assess the situation and engage with traditional leaders.
Burns-Ncamashe began his oversight visit in the Alfred Nzo District. Today, he is in the OR Tambo district, and he will conclude his visit in the Buffalo City Metro on Friday.
