The Khampepe Commission of Inquiry, led by retired Constitutional Court Justice Sisi Khampepe, was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa in May this year to probe allegations of political interference in the investigation and prosecution of apartheid-era crimes that were recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The commission's mandate is to determine whether any individuals or entities improperly influenced or obstructed the work of the National Prosecuting Authority and the South African Police Service in pursuing these cases.
