Mozambique attack: ISIL claims responsibility for Palma violence

Published
The ISIL (ISIS) group has claimed responsibility for an attack on the town of Palma in northern Mozambique, which left dozens of people dead and thousands missing.
It said its fighters had seized the town in the gas-rich region after several days of fighting.
Security forces are trying to secure Palma; the exact number of people killed, injured and unaccounted for - is still unknown.
Armed groups have been launching attacks in the region since 2017.

Al Jazeera's Haru Mutasa reports.
