The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) says it has noted the judgment handed down by the High Court in Bhisho in the Eastern Cape, regarding its investigation into the awarding of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Fort Hare (UFH). The court declared the SIU investigation an abuse and unconstitutional and it is reviewed and set aside. The SIU said this will, however, not prevent the unit from continuing its investigation. Among the qualifications under scrutiny was that of Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane, who was the applicant in the matter.
