Wildfires | Mop-up operations are actively continuing across WC

Minister for Local Government in the Western Cape, Anton Bredell says he is happy that there are no fatal incidents as a result of the wildfires taking place in the Cape Winelands and Overstrand Municipality.

Authorities briefed the media on the extent of intervention by dedicated teams to save property and lives. 17 000 hectares of vegetation burnt down covering over 50 kilometers.

There has also been limited extent of damage to property and infrastructure.

Mopping up operations are also under way.
